the only “defined” elements are the people most of the time and why??? because the environment is a direct reflection of Gwen’s emotions!!!

from the color to the amount of details and the clarity of everything!!! it is fuCKING GENIUS!!!!

when she’s “alright” we can distinguish the elements that make up the environment but when she’s frustrated, sad, confused, when her mind and emotions are all over the place, when she’s overwhelmed, all we can see is a confusing, distraught, blue mess and I LOVE IT SO MUCH

the care and attention to detail that went into this movie deserve so much recognition, it is a work of art in and on itself

hobie brown telling us what he doesn’t believe in but showing us what he does believe in.

he doesn’t believe in labels, the government, calling himself a hero, consistency, the lot.

but he believes in miles. he believes in being able to chose your own path, in being an individual, in helping others. he believes in the personal idea of what is good rather than the big paintbrush of The Greater Good.

which is a fantastic way of characterizing him. because words still hold weight, but you need action to back it all up

Just realised that in pavitr’s intro he says that being spiderman is so easy bc maybe he hadn’t felt the real sacrifice of being spiderman yet. We saw his canon event happen in real time: the captain and the kid or the bus w gayatri. He hasn’t suffered through the pain of being spiderman yet, and miles shows that maybe you don’t need to, or don’t need to go it alone at least, completelyy different to the other spiderman movies. The other spidey movies you sort of watch the gradual breaking down as spiderman suffers and grieves and in the end accepts that spiderman is a solo deal, but miles shows that maybe it doesn’t have to be. Maybe he can have both, have his cake and eat it too if he has two cakes, if he has a team. And I just love spiderverse sm bc it brings back the optimism and innocence and maybe naivety of spidey, and that’s okay. He’s 15. This isn’t miles’ weakness, it’s his strength.

Maybe the power of friendship isn’t just a childish dream but a power, a strength, itself. Maybe we don’t need to sacrifice our hope and innocence for ‘strength’ or bleak maturity as we grow up, idk

⚠️ ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE SPOILERS ⚠️

one thing i love about Hobie Brown is how well he embodies punk and how people VIEW punks. throughout the scenes he’s in it might seem like he’s being chaotic for no reason other than Cool Factor™️. But if you take a closer look at everything he was up to, he actually pulled so much weight for the team. When he was signaling miles about the palms, it might’ve looked like he was just instigating, but he seriously did agree with miles and wanted to help (hence his quitting the spider society and continuing to help team miles afterwards). And when he was picking shit off the walls of miguel’s base, it seemed like him just being a menace, but he was collecting the pieces to fashion gwen’s watch, which he took the time to deliver to her later (presumably using his own DIY watch). i think it’s easy to write him off as being a general menace just for funsies, and see him as just a fun chaotic character, but Hobie had the plan and intent of helping miles break the canon the entire time. behind everything he did, he had a solid reasoning, he just did it with some edge. and that’s fucking punk if i’ve ever seen it.

I love hobie with my entire heart i love how he plays into the obstinate punk who listens to no one image, and how it is also who he is unironically because the image of a punk that someone like miguel has and the reality of a punk that hobie is makes it so that people underestimate hobie as being a real threat.

That set up of him just snatching up tech right in front of everyone and people just go oh yeah hobie just does that, he doesn’t believe in rules and stuff, oh that hobie- surprise it’s homemade portal time. Hobie is so cool.

But also miguel. Dude. How in the world did you think hiring an anti-authoritarian punk to join your ultimate multiverse authoritarian cop group was going to work out. How did you think that was going to end up, buddy?
